Its a personal choice also if you prefer Float, Spinning/Casting, Others will tell you Rocky Lake for Trout, Emerald Lake for Walleye, and Pike, Mudwater for Catfish and Large mouth Bass. If you prefer Trout, Walleye, Catfish, Pickerel, Pike, then check the leader boards to see if your gear can handle the largest fish in that category at that location. However, if you research a little, looking at the map, check the fish species at lower level locations.

There is no reason to hurry, the is no endgame. No need to spend real money unless you want to support the Devs in the development of the game. Complete some missions there, collect cash and Bait coins.
